Cookie Policy
Hi Bear LLC ("RentBear," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our platform. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, and how you can control them.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Related technologies — local storage, session storage and similar device storage — do much the same job, and this policy covers those too.
2. This Marketing Site Sets No Cookies
The pages you are reading now — everything on rentbear.co outside the signed-in application — are static pages. They set no cookies of their own, contain no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers, and they do not profile you. That is why you are not being asked to accept anything here.
Analytics runs on these pages only if you have already agreed to it in the RentBear application, which lives on this same site. The pages read that choice from your browser; without a yes, nothing is loaded. With it, the same product analytics listed for the application below (PostHog, hosted in the EU) may measure your visit and keep an identifier in your browser's storage. Withdrawing your consent in the application stops it here too.
The one exception is not ours to set: our infrastructure provider may set a strictly necessary security cookie to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic and to keep the site available. It carries no advertising identifier and is not used to track you across sites.
3. Cookies in the RentBear Application
Once you sign in, RentBear uses cookies and equivalent device storage that are strictly necessary to run the product. We use them in these categories:
| Category | What it does | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Keeps you signed in between visits and protects your session | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| Security | Protects forms and requests against cross-site abuse | Session |
| Preferences | Remembers choices such as language and saved search settings | Persistent, up to 12 months |
| Analytics — only with your consent | Measures how the product is used (PostHog, hosted in the EU). Nothing loads until you agree in the consent prompt; change your answer any time in Settings → Privacy | Until you withdraw consent or clear it |
The first three are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for, so under the ePrivacy rules they do not require consent. Analytics does, which is why it waits for yours. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data with advertising networks.
Persistent Cookies vs Session Cookies
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device after you close your browser.
- Session cookies — are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
4. Your Control Over Cookies
You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies, and every major browser documents how under a "Cookies and site data" or "Privacy" heading. Please note that if you block the strictly necessary cookies above, you will not be able to stay signed in and parts of the product will not work.
Blocking cookies on this marketing site changes nothing, because it does not set any.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at support@rentbear.co. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with personal data more broadly.
